Lawan
said: “We’ve come to thank Mr. President for the fatherly role he
played in the contest we just had. This is the way to show respect for
our leaders and our elders.

“The visit is to assure him that we
will unite ourselves in the national assembly; and that we will provide
necessary and critical legislative intervention needed for his
administration to succeed.

“We are looking to a very decent, cooperative, cordial and collaborative relationship with the executive arm of government.

“We
are happy that the outcome has favoured us the way it has. We want to
assure everyone that we are totally to making Nigeria better.”

On Lawan’s entourage were: his deputy, Senator Omo Agege, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, Senator Jubrin Barau, among others.
